nathanboone2.jpg (16613 bytes)Who Was Nathan Boone

Nathan Boone was the youngest son of Daniel Boone.  As a teenager he left Kentucky with his elderly father to settle Missouri at the invitation of the Spanish.  Nathan married Olive Van Bibber and joined his father in the later part of the 18th century.  As was the custom then, Nathan, the youngest son, looked after his father and established a home at Femme Osage near St. Charles, Missouri.    After Daniel's death Nathan joined the army and responsible for exploration and treaty negotiations with the Indians in modern Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska.  Nathan resettled near Ashgrove, Missouri (near Springfield, MO) to be closer to the frontier.  He died shortly before the civil war.  Nathan was a hero in his own right and is responsible for much of the early exploration of Missouri.  Both of Nathan's homes (Femme Osage and Ashgrove) are maintained by the state of Missouri as historical sites.

Wanted:  Family Tree Editor

We need someone who wants to take on the project of putting together everyone's family tree into one large file.  Don't worry about getting it on the internet, we can do that.  This will be an ongoing project.  As new descendents are found new information will be added to the file.  Contact the webmaster below if you are interested.

Quilt Project:

Volunteers at the Nathan Boone Homestead Historic Site are putting together a quilt.  They have asked family members to each make a square.  Squares will be available at the Reunion for each family member.  The quilt will be presented to the museum for proper display.

Every descendent and cousin is invited to participate in this unique display of living history.  We will post more information later for those who want to participate but can not attend the Reunion in September.
